The Focus of Our Efforts
Community partnerships are the foundation and premise on which Watchful Eye is built. Recognizing that this is our disease and that we need to own it in order to address it effectively drives the Testing, Outreach and Prevention (TOP) Community Action Partnership (CAP) model. This novel idea of bringing together political leaders, clergy and community stakeholders to advance Watchful Eye’s mission of getting people tested, educated and involved, is the strategy of the future for combating HIV/AIDS. All of the activities in which we are involved illustrate our belief that together there is nothing that we can’t accomplish and that HIV is 100% preventable.
Founded in 1989, with its mission for Clergy and Elected Officials to serve, strengthen and empower the parishioners and constituents of Brooklyn, through advocacy and participation in areas that we determine that social and economic injustice exists.
Today, the African American Clergy and Elected Officials Organization is the only organization in the state of New York where pastors, priests, ministers, elected officials and community stakeholders meet monthly to exchange information on community issues on all levels of government.
Most of our efforts pertaining to this program involve studying new approaches and developing innovative ways to implement them. We evaluate our success in this field by gathering qualitative and quantitative data, and using that information to measure shifts and changes from our baseline measurements.
Watchful Eye sees every challenge as an opportunity. Partnering with Interfaith Hospital to ensure that community members not only got tested for HIV but also tested and vaccinated for COVID-19. WE continue to be invested in an innovative approach that empowers our community and delivers the support they need, when they need it.
Established in 1979, Black Veterans for Social Justice is a non-profit, community-based organization servicing veterans, their families, and members of the community.
