With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for dealing with this challenge. The Watchful Eye Testing, Outreach and Prevention (TOP) Initiative is an unprecedented community mobilization effort with the major goals of getting individuals to get tested, know their status and get involved.
This Initiative recognizes and capitalizes on the strength of existing community resources including ministers, social service providers, community partners, civic leaders and members of the community at large. All of these community stakeholders bring value to the Initiative because of their roles in and knowledge of the human as well as other resources available in their respective communities. THE RED RIBBON
The Watchful Eye Red Ribbon Revitalization Campaign symbolizes perpetuation of the agency’s commitment to promoting HIV Testing, providing Education and cultivating Awareness. Wearing the red ribbon often initiates a conversation that provides the basic education around HIV/AIDS and creates a climate of familiarity that allows for open and honest exchange about a subject that has for too long been taboo. The Watchful Eye Red Ribbon Revitalization Campaign became a movement, which helped the community to remember what AIDS is all about and the urgency of getting educated and tested for HIV.
NEW YORK CITY FAITH IN ACTION
The mission of the NYC Faith in Action Coalition for HIV/AIDS is to educate the communities we serve on issues of HIV and AIDS Prevention, Care and Education. Formed in 2008, the Coalition is a city-wide partnership comprised of individuals, Faith Organizations, Health and Secular Organizations working collectively toward the goal to reduce and eliminate HIV and AIDS in New York City.
